Thank you so much to everyone who stopped by to say hello this weekend at the MCAS Miramar AirShow!
We had an incredibly dedicated team of 8 different volunteers each day at the event enthusiastically sharing our cause, selling merchandise, and passing out flyers. We spoke to hundreds of amazing people including current and former veterans. Stand for Vets / The Mark Hodel Veteran’s Foundation had the privilege of collecting 120 names that wanted to be part of our growing family.
We sold $3,000 worth of DVDs and merchandise and had the race bike there that will be competing in the upcoming Baja 1000 off-road race in Mexico. We had a large screen television showing the movie “No Greater Love” – the same director of that film will also be directing the upcoming documentary covering our founder and four other veterans who will all be racing the Baja 1000. It will be an amazing boost for SFV when it hits the big screen a year from Veteran’s Day (that’s the plan).
We had great conversations with so many people, it was inspirational. Walking around and viewing the planes, the technology of decades ago vs now, gave us an amazing appreciation for US invention and our ability to design massive pieces of metal that could fly through the sky and invoke havoc on our enemies. There was a patriotism that you could feel and it was a great respite from all we are watching on the news today full of division and politics. We were all Americans there…didn’t matter if you were from a red state or a blue state…we were just red, white and blue.
We wouldn’t have wanted to be anywhere else. It’s there every year…come out next year and experience what we did…we will definitely be there. Look forward to seeing you!
