My father was a testament to The Greatest Generation, he never spoke of his war experiences & carried his honor to his death in 1995 without a single complaint or expectation tied to his service. I know only from family stories and talking to his best friend, a Navy veteran himself, that my father struggled to re-enter a normal life after his experience fighting on Leyte and Okinawa. His dignity in the service of his country is his legacy.
